Several years ago, I visited a friend’s chapel and watched her dog lay down in the sun as coloured light streamed through the stained glass windows above him.
There is hope in connections; in finding you are not alone; in sharing pain and triumph with someone, whether human or canine or other. This quest for light and warmth – a simple gesture – is here undertaken by a dog but is familiarly human.
And there is hope in something bigger than us, whatever form that may take. A Goodness, a benevolence that resides in living beings, and gifts us with things like light and colour and warmth.
