I can’t speak for others, but as time has progressed with this virulent virus, I’ve found myself opting out of painting with excuses eg: “Im feeling too stressed”, or “I don’t feel like painting right now”. The reasons we give ourselves are limitless. I recently came across some excellent ADVICE on how to REDUCE STRESS whilst listening to an international artist video.
If you find yourself staring blankly at the white page, take a random piece of paper and a pen or pencil in hand. For the next 3 minutes, scribble ferociously on that paper, using both hands and do NOT STOP until you are exhausted and time is up. This purges the excess energy you have and, amazingly, I found myself feeling much calmer and able to tackle the paper with no hesitation.
Should you still not feel like tackling a major project, give yourself permission to play. Change it up and try some of the following:
> use untried paper out of your supplies;
> play with colours you don’t usually use;
> haul out those new brushes and test run them;
> alter the angle of the paper you paint at.
I hope some of these ideas challenge you to “give it a go” again if you’ve recently given up on yourself. Good luck!
