During the civil unrest in SA in July 2021, we had lost nearly all of our household goods and precious items, including all my artwork, studio equipment, and art books gathered over >15 years. It was senselessly destroyed in a fire that was set to the storage units where we had our items. I felt sadness, anger, despair but to continue and to rebuild, I had to remain hopeful that we could learn and move on from this setback. This was the painting I did following that unfortunate event and served as a channel and outlet for the myriad of emotions I felt at the time. Hence the title: Rise Again.
