Watercolor painting of the interior of Antoni Gaudí’s Basilica de la Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain. The columns were designed to look like a stone forest, with stained glass windows on either side that flood the interior with both warm and cool light which I hopefully translated into the colors of the painting. Seeing this beautiful harmony of light in person inspired me to paint the interior in time for the completion and inauguration of the Basilica after more than a hundred years of construction.
This painting was made using Daniel Smith watercolors, Escoda brushes, and Arches rough watercolor paper.
